The Purpose of Monitor.

A Single Monitor cannot have all the features that other categories of monitor have. A Gaming Monitor is meant for Gaming and is least suited for tasks like Graphics designing or photo editing, all though activities like these can be done with a gaming Monitor but the colour calibration that monitors made for graphic designing offer is far better. So you have to be specific on what your intention is with monitor.

  • Needs to have at least 144Hz and 1ms response time for Smooth Gameplay at high FPS.
  • IPS or VA panels offer better better color reproduction than TN panel. While TN panel offers higher refresh rate and lower response time.
  • Needs to have G-SYNC or Freesync compatibility for Nvidia or AMD graphics card respectively for reduced screen tearing and ghosting. Nowadays even Nvidia Graphics Card work well with Freesync compatible monitors. 
  • Should have at least 1920*1080 resolution and with Display, HDMI port.

  • The monitor should have very good color accuracy and IPS panel.
  • Higher the resolution better it is.
  • High Refresh Rate and Low Response Time are not a necessary concern.
  • The ports offered should have the connectivity same as your motherboard or Graphics Card i.e. Display port, HDMI port, VGA port and etc. 

Monitor For Entertainment and Media Consumption

  • So you can go with any kind of Monitor until it provides good color reproduction.
  • Even Gaming or Editing Monitor would work great for this task.
