Overview of Internal Storage Drives.

Internal storage drives are the devices or components which is mainly used as primary storage devices. Most of the important applications and files are stored in the internal storage drives for example, OS is installed in the primary storage device. There are various kind of storage devices available in the market but in this article we will feature the storage devices which are best suited for a Computer. So there are basically two devices which are considered as internal storage drives. The first and older one is the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and the Other is Solid State Drive (SSD). The Hard Disk Drive or HDD for short was invented by IBM and the SSD was developed by Toshiba. Hard Disk is one of the older forms of data storage used. Hard Disk Consists of Spinning Magnetic Disk which spin at very high RPM and other complex mechanisms. Hard was the only option for consumers to choose it as their internal storage device until recently when SSD became popular. Hard Disk offer more storage than SSD with cheaper price tag. There are external hard drives available which also offer high storage capacity.

• Due to moving mechanical components, Hard Disk Drives are more susceptible to internal damages.
• Read and Write Speed is way slower than that of Solid State Drives(SSD).
• Produces Heat While usage.

Solid State Drives (SSD).

Solid State Drives or SSD were made with the intention for better speed and performance. There is no doubt that SSD are way more expensive than Hard Drive for Internal Storage drive. You only get 1/4 of the storage under similar price tag of Hard Drive. But this sacrifice does not goes wasted, SSD perform many times faster than usual Hard Drives. There many variations of SSD such as Internal SSD, M.2 SSD Drives and other kinds.

Pros of Solid State Drive.

• Solid State Drives are faster way more faster than Hard Disk Drive.
• The Durability of SSD is way more superior than that of Hard Disk.
• Insignificant amount of heat is generated while using.

Cons of Solid State Drive.

• Solid State Drives are very expensive.
• Limited Storage.

It is nothing new that there is a tug of war going on between Hard Disk Drives and SSD but there are many computer user who use both SSD and Hard Disk in their system. SSD provides quick booting while the Hard Drive is used as Storage. So you might have got an idea about what internal storage drive to use according to your preference.
